We had already organized the cushions, ribbons and water in the crystal vases, but the Tiffany blue macarons where nowhere to be found! Not even sugared almonds and gelatin candies…
In your opinion, could we let a bride down and ask her to give up little sweets in her favourite colour?
Rather, we sifted through all of Rome to find an old sweet shop, even the branch of a famous French patisserie. And for the sugared almonds? We went as far as Puglia to find a shop, which could make them in that colour.
We admit it: it wasn’t very easy but that was just that what we did, to make the bride happy. And what satisfaction!
Massimiliano and Luana’s reception, in a splendid villa on the ancient Appian Way, was designed and created with this colour, and each decorative element had a trace of it.
The crystal vases had blue water; the cushions specifically made for the occasion in that tone of blue and decorated with rhinestones.
Further, a splendid blue Tiffany monogram, border and font for the menu.
The crowning piece of this chromatic theme was found at the table of sweets. An old Roman sweetshop custom-made the blue gelatin candies, whereas in Puglia an artisan candy maker prepared sugared almonds with the whole almond covered in an unusual Tiffany blue sugar.
“But I know what I like. It’s like Tiffany’s. Not that I give a hoot about jewellery. Diamonds, yes. But it’s tacky to wear diamonds before you’re forty”
